The UN Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. One of its action platforms is Sustainable Agro, the Global Compact’s only sectoral platform, which aims to encourage sustainable production practices as a competitive differential for Brazilian agribusiness, nationally and internationally. Among its projects is the Practical Guide to Sustainable Finance in Agribusiness, a material that aims to help companies adopt best practices throughout the value chain and provide greater visibility on opportunities for healthy investments. With details on credit lines, investors, guidelines for becoming eligible for financing, and success stories, the Guide has the potential to inspire and assist business growth in a sustainable manner.

The material, which was launched at a workshop held last Wednesday, May 31, in São Paulo (SP), had the support of several companies and entities for its preparation, including BP Bunge Bioenergia, one of the leaders in the sucroenergetic sector in Brazil. The company’s CFO, Marcus Schlosser, attended the launch event and emphasized in his presentation how agribusiness plays an essential role in national economic growth, as an ally of sustainable development.

“With the growth of financing alternatives linked to sustainable practices in agribusiness, understanding the various instruments available becomes fundamental for the development of producers of all sizes, since management throughout the production chain promotes healthy and prosperous businesses that generate value for the sector and all of society, said Schlosser.
