BP Bunge Bioenergia, one of the largest sugarcane processors in Brazil, joined, this Tuesday, the “Movimento Elas Lideram 2030”, during the “Forum Ambição 2030”, held by the UN Global Compact in Brazil. This initiative aims at promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment through leading positions.

“Respecting the diversity of races, gender, sexual orientation, age, beliefs and thoughts is fundamental for the development of companies”, said Mario Lindenhayn, CEO and Board of Directors of BP Bunge Bioenergia. “The search for an environment with equity must be constant. By joining the movement, we ratify our commitment to act in favor of valuing people”.

The “Movimento Elas Lideram 2030”, an initiative of Rede Brasil of the Global Compact and collaboration of UN Women, was created about a year ago. The movement is based on the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and aims to increase female participation in senior leadership positions. By formalizing the support, BP Bunge is committed to establishing policies to increase to 30%, by 2025, the participation of women in these functions.

Formed in 2019, BP Bunge values respect and encourages the representation of all voices. Recently, the company carried out a diagnosis on Diversity and Inclusion and set up a Committee to define even more robust actions within the scope of diversity and inclusion, and with well-defined objectives in relation to women. Valuing people is part of the ESG goals for the company’s first 10 years of operation, announced in 2021.
