On March 14th, BP Bunge Bioenergia was surprised by an irregular situation report regarding 112 workers, who were under the responsibility of a service provider hired 40 days before the incident in areas of the company in the state of Goiás.

The company acted immediately to defend the workers and ensure social and human priorities, promptly paying the severance amount calculated by regulatory authorities. In addition, BP Bunge Bioenergia notified the end of the contract with the service provider responsible for the workers. The company regrets the incident and continues to collaborate with authorities, rigorously investigating the facts and the respective responsibilities to take the necessary measures.

BP Bunge Bioenergia condemns any irregular practice related to worker health and safety and does not tolerate situations that expose people to degrading working conditions. The company complies with the laws and regulations and adopts the best practices and standards to develop its activities, based on human rights principles. It is committed to prevent this from never happening again.

We assure that we have a process for selecting, approving, auditing, developing, and continuously improving our service providers. Unfortunately, these procedures were not sufficient in this case and are being reviewed and improved.

Additionally, we conducted extra audits in areas served by service providers and reinforced communication to outsourced workers about human and labor rights, as well as providing access to the channels for reporting any irregular situation
